Romantic Spring Wedding at Lacuna Lofts in Chicago’s Pilsen Neighborhood

I was so excited when my friend J found the love of his life and got engaged to M. I was even more excited when they entrusted me to be their wedding planner.

Their love story goes a little something like this: Girl moves to Chicago. Girl’s co-worker sets up a dating app profile. Girl meets boy. Girl and boy fall in love.

J and M hosted a Lacuna Lofts wedding on a gorgeous spring day in April, and it was everything. While their wedding was a huge celebration of their love, they were intentional about incorporating intimate moments throughout the day — the kind that remind you what a wedding is actually for.

Getting Ready

The couple had a calm, joy-filled morning getting wedding-ready at the Marriott Marquis Hotel — the perfect prep location for a wedding in the South Loop or Pilsen. The morning included a private vow reading at their first look, one of my favorite moments of the entire day. Before the celebration opened up to their full community, they had a few quiet minutes that were just theirs.

The Wedding Party

J and M’s wedding party was enormous and absolutely wonderful. With 10 attendants on each side, the couple was completely surrounded by love, laughs, and support from the very first moment to the very last. It was beautiful to witness how deeply their closest friends and family showed up for them and their union.

Fun fact: post-wedding, J and M were told by many guests that it was the best wedding they had ever attended. We’re just glad we could make it happen.
