In 2016, I was 3 years in to my career in the catering and events industry, and one year into my role as both a sales person and event manager.

I was at a point in my career and in my life where i wanted to do something creative and meet other event professionals. I tried blogging on and off over the years, and noticed that there wasn’t really a blog that specifically focused on the local wedding scene in Chicago. I decided that the perfect creative outlet would be a write a wedding blog, and Birdcage and Blushers was born! I had such a blast going to wedding industry events, and spotlighting a variety of industry professionals. I also wrote pieces to help the Chicago locals plan their own weddings!

As I advanced in my career, I had less time to devote to the blog, so I decided to retire the blog. But the universe works in mysterious ways….

After years of telling friends and colleagues that I had no interest in having any sort of wedding planning business, in 2020 a friend, newly engaged, asking me to help in the coordination of their wedding. After some hesitation, I graciously accepted and they became my first client.

Only after their wedding did I entertain the idea of coming up with a name. I thought of so many potential names, but none of them felt….authentic. Then it hit me! Why not use the name that I put so much thought into coming up with and re-purposing my little wedding blog that could?! So in Fall of 2022, Birdcage and Blushers the blog was reborn as Birdcage and Blushers Weddings! This truly has been a long time coming, from 2016 creating the blog to now and I can’t wait to see where things go from here. I hope you’ll be part of the journey.
