Earlier in the day, before the ceremony began, C and J took photos throughout Chicago — including a stop at one of their favorite neighborhood bars, where they toasted the day with a celebratory shot of Malört. It was the perfect start to a celebration that never tried to be anything other than exactly what it was.

The Aesthetic

The bride gravitated toward a moody, autumnal aesthetic — rich tones, candlelight, and layered textures that created a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout the space. Vintage lounge furniture and rugs from Arcana Vintage Rentals replaced traditional reception seating, giving the room depth and personality. Florals by Flowers for Dreams added to the lush, moody atmosphere without overpowering the couple’s distinct visual direction.

Instead of a traditional ceremony layout, guests were seated along a runway-style aisle, creating an intimate and immersive experience. Rather than a formal plated meal, they brought in two food trucks — Tamale Space Ship serving Mexican cuisine and Soul & Smoke serving soul food — reflecting their respective cultures and creating an atmosphere that felt festive and deeply personal.
