Meet Your Wedding Planner!

Hi! I’m Alyson, Chicago wedding planner behind Birdcage and Blushers. That’s me above, giving my Maid of Honor speech at my best friend Jillian’s wedding. I’m doing my BEST comedic work, while Jillian and her husband Aaron are happy, carefree, and enjoying their wedding day.

I LIVE for moments like this. It’s the essence of why I do what I do: seeing my couples extremely happy and head over heels in love on their wedding day.

A Chicago native, I’ve been in the weddings and events industry for over a decade and consider myself a Chicago weddings and events expert. I started out as a catering coordinator at a gourmet market in Streeterville (where I actually met my best friend Jill) and went on to selling catering services at one of the top historic wedding venues in Chicago. I eventually transitioned into the hospitality industry where I planned and coordinated weddings and corporate events for Marriott and Hilton hotels.

My background gives me a unique perspective and industry knowledge that helps couples navigate the process and answer wedding planning questions. I’m really passionate about guiding people through how to plan a wedding. I not only help couples design how their wedding will look, but also pay attention to the little details that make a big impact on their experience. I understand how daunting wedding planning can feel at times, and I lead with empathy, humor, compassion, and honesty so that couples feel at ease during the planning process and on the wedding day.

When I’m not planning weddings, I enjoy reading (and adding books to my unread book pile), podcasting, exploring new places to dine, watching real estate and fashion tv, traveling with my partner, and snuggling with our four-legged babies: Luna the Tuxedo Cat and Sunny the (menace) Frenchie.
